DYFED CLOSED CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP

Saturday and Sunday 27th and 28th January 2024

Caffi Emlyn, Tan-y-groes, Ceredigion, SA43 2JE

This will be a five-round tournament run on the Swiss system open to all resident in Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire or Carmarthenshire. Under the Swiss system entrants play in all rounds. Meals and refreshments will be available at the venue.

Round times:

Rd 1: Saturday 9:30 – 12.30

Rd 2: Saturday 1:00 – 4:00

Rd 3: Saturday 4:30 – 7:30

Rd 4: Sunday 9:30 – 12.30

Rd 5: Sunday 1:30 – 4:30

Entry Fee: Adults – £15; Juniors (Under 18 on 1 Sept 2023): £5

One or two half point byes may be claimed in rounds 1-4 so long as this is done on the entry form.

Rate of Play: All moves in 60 minutes, with 25 second increments for each move starting from the first move.

Prizes: First – £100

Second – £50

Third – £25

Grading Prize (Welsh Chess Union rating under 1500 at start of tournament): £20

The winner will hold the Dyfed Championship Trophy for one year.
